Bringing Children's Friends on Vacation
We have four kids, and the age spread is eight years between the oldest and the twins, then 14 months between the twins and the youngest. (OK, for those of you who are curious, the first was with my first husband, and the three younger ones were with my right husband. And yes, it was pretty much like having triplets. And it was—and still is—wonderful! OK, now we can proceed.)
Even having three babies never really stopped us from making the 400-mile trek to Disneyland several times a year. When the younger three kids were in strollers, we would often bring along one of my older son’s friends so he’d have someone his own age to pal around with at the park. Generally, it worked well, and we had a more than a few kids who were eager to go with us.
I discovered and refined my inner drill sergeant when I had five kids in tow, especially when one of them wasn’t mine.
Celebrity mom crush: Miranda Kerr
Much of the East Coast experienced an unseasonably early cold spell last weekend. Parents up and down the Eastern seaboard scrambled to dig out the hats, scarves and gloves, which had been happily tucked away in storage for so long.
This week's CMC, Miranda Kerr, was seen out and about in New York City over the weekend, with her little guy, Flynn. Although that cutie was bundled in a warm sweater and had a blanket draped over his stroller to help keep him toasty, he was having none of it and pushed that pesky blanket aside so he could get a better view.
Babies and toddlers are notorious for pulling off warm winter hats and older children are often seen ditching (or at least unzipping) their coats, even in the coldest of temperatures -- much to the chagrin of their mothers. Short of suiting them up to the point where they can't even put their arms down (let alone rip a hat off their heads), a la "A Christmas Story," what are your best tricks for keeping your kids properly bundled in the cold?
