Cheekwood CEO Jane Offenbach finds paradise in dream job
Jane Offenbach walks along the manicured sidewalks at Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art, her attention focused on a floppy-haired boy in front of her.
Watch his face when he sees the trains, she leans over and whispers.
As the miniature locomotives of the Trains! Tennessee in G exhibit come into view, so, too, do the boys small, crooked teeth, as he breaks into smile.
Offenbach feels that same joy when she pulls through Cheekwoods stone gates. Surrounded by elegant gardens, striking historic landmarks and distinctive art, Offenbach says she works in paradise. At the same time she sees potential for so much more.
As Cheekwoods newest president and chief executive officer, Offenbachs job is to act on that potential, seeing that the area, which has been a public landmark for more than 50 years, is preserved, enhanced and enjoyed by as many people as possible. In many ways, she feels she has been preparing for this dream job all of her life.
